Our Aims

Our vision is to create a more inclusive world for Aspergers.  We believe that greater understanding and acceptance of Aspergers is critical for Aspergers people to discover meaningful and connected futures, while facilitating individual empowerment.  

Our mission is to support all communities to improve their understanding of Aspergers and so empower Aspergers to have the confidence to realise their own strengths, abilities, dreams and ambitions - and discover independence - while managing challenges, across their lives.  based on four key program pillars:

1. Peer support groups
2. Information about Aspergers and its opportunities
3. Educational events, and
4. Employment readiness, coaching and linkages

   Our Board

Tamsin Jowett - President

Tamsin Jowett is a communications professional who has worked internationally with BP in Corporate Affairs (including CSR) and with London brand agency LSW. Tamsin holds a Masters in Marketing from London and is also a qualified lawyer who practiced in Melbourne. Tamsin has a place in the inaugural Women's Board Leadership Program which supports influential leaders. 

Tamsin has had many years supporting our Aspergers community and is passionate about empowering our Aspergers community and building understanding of Aspergers capabilities.

AMANDA NIVEN - SECRETARY

Amanda has over 20+ years’ experience working for professional services firms and providing strategic and operational management in the teams she leads.

Amanda is passionate about advocating for and raising awareness of Aspergers in the wider community.

In her spare time, Amanda spends the majority of her time with her husband and two daughters and enjoying all that one of the world’s most livable cities has to offer!


simon meyer - treasurer

Simon completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) with Federation University Australia. He has a strong background in financial accounting, business analysis, data analysis and audit as a Chartered Accountant. Simon has worked for Global manufacturers, including both Toyota and Orora, and is passionate about nurturing an innovative and diverse work environment to challenge the status quo. Simon has delivered on key strategic projects during his career and been recognised for his valued contribution.

Kevin Kennedy - Technology Coordinator 

Kevin Kennedy (B.Eng Communications & Computing, Grad Dip. Technology Management) is the father of three children including one boy with Aspergers Syndrome. He has held senior executive roles in various networking and communications organisations including Amazon.com, AAPT, Motorola and Telstra. He is responsible for the technology and communications platforms that support Aspergers Victoria.


GAYLE VERMONT - BOARD MEMBER

Gayle Vermont has a BA, B.B.Sc. (Hons), MSW and has had over 40 years experience in a wide spectrum of disability services with the Victorian government, non-for- profit agencies and her own private consultancy and counselling business. Gayle has worked in all areas of disability including accommodation, employment and education services as well as worked with all types of disability including, physical, sensory, intellectual, psychiatric and acquired brain injury. 

Gayle is committed to creating a more inclusive and respectful world for all people particularly those who are neurodiverse. She wants to encourage the empowerment of Aspies whom she hopes will one day be ‘out and proud’, understood by all and the envy of all non-Aspies!

alex dawson - Board Member

Alex has qualifications in financial services, administration and HR.  She has been working for a small cancer charity for the last 10 years where she has gained extensive knowledge of the NFP sector.  Her two children are both on the spectrum.

We rely on donations and memberships to undertake our important work as a volunteer run organisation. Donate now and help us to improve outcomes for people with Aspergers.  All donations are tax deductible.
