Develop Your Social Skills Toolkit Workshop 

Module 1: Basic Communication/Social Skills for Young Adults 18-35yrs


Social Skills Toolkit is aimed at assisting young adults who are interested in understanding the social and work world by creating a toolkit that will assist individuals to make and keep friends, socialise and feel confident, and even develop romantic relationships. Participants are given the opportunity to practice these skills during and between weekly sessions.  Consistent weekly participation is essential.  Link Health's Batesford Hub (not far from Power Neighbourhood House).

Social coaches will be  provided to support participants in using the social skills tools developed in the workshops and will provide a resource during the weekly sessions. Modules 2-4 will run immediately after module 1 and will be open for booking on separate booking pages. For full program information refer to the Adults Social Skills Toolkit Workshops brochure (pdf)

Module 1:   Basic Communication/Social Skills covers:

  • Understanding social anxiety and how to manage it.
  • Identifying thinking styles and emotions in yourself and others
  • Conversation survival skills: Starting and maintaining conversations, entrance and exit strategies, reading verbal and non-verbal language

Getting There: Batesford Hub is on Batesford Rd, near Holmesglen TAFE. There is free parking available on site.  If taking public transport, the nearest train station is Holmesglen station on the Glen Waverley line, or pick up the 903 Mordialloc bus and get off at the TAFE/Warrigal Rd stop, then it's a 2 minute walk from there.
