Our community have amazing but often hidden strengths and talents which can be uncovered with the right support and understanding. Support, recognition and guidance connected to employment is critical. Our co-designed programs are delivered by individuals with autistic lived experience and aim to ensure that participants can thrive at work. Our lived experience team of coaches and facilitators understand the balance of strengths, talents, needs and challenges. Our World Of Work programs are strengths-based, focused on empowerment and are designed to support participants in each stage of their career. These are not therapy or deficit based. We understand and we empower with a targeted model for job seekers, employees and employers. Our programs provide strategies to develop self-understanding and tools to promote positive engagement in the world of work.
Teens work knowhow program (ILC funded)At AV, we believe that our early career experiences build our life foundations. This needs to start with work experience in our teens. Our Teens Work KnowHow program provides teens in our community with a pathway to understand themselves and the world of work. They develop job readiness skills, in a way that is positive, empowering, practical and geared towards their individual learning styles. They also receive supported work experience within the existing schools program. For more details visit the Teens Work KnowHow Page. Participants will leave with more career understanding, self-confidence and some useful tools to help map out their own future in work. We will be offering the next work experience placement in the second week of the April school holidays in 2024.
