This directory contains contact details of businesses and organisations who have joined AV as Professional Members in the Service Provider category and which provide services to the autistic community. These businesses may include medical and allied health professionals, coaches, NDIS plan managers and local area coordinators, as well as schools and education providers.

We recommend that you do your own due diligence before engaging the services of a professional.
Here are some tips and suggestions of steps we suggest that our community include in this process.

• It is a good idea to call the service provider before making an appointment with them to find out more about them and whether or not they are suitable for you.
• Choosing the professional best suited to your needs can often be decided on the interaction you have with them over the phone, a sort of "gut feeling" which might indicate you want to work with this person.
• Things you might wish to discuss with them include:
• • their primary demographic (ie: do they only provide assessments for children, or do they assess adults also?)
  • the cost of the service they provide and if any rebates are available
  • their rooms and location: what information can they provide about the sensory and accessibility profile of their venue?
  • any documents you may need to bring with you, including potentially a referral from a GP.
