Southern Evening Parents & Carers Peer Group

"School Engagement"

***Note New Southern Groups Venue for all groups: Hampton Community Centre****

This is a new evening group extension of our daytime group, to cater for daytime working parents, grandparents and carers (of a person with Aspergers or High Functioning Autism / ASD 1-2) to meet, share their experiences and support eachother. We are now meeting at a new venue:  Hampton Community Centre.

This month we have a guest speaker & leader, Gayle Vermont, to talk with us about: "School Engagement".  This is in response to a request from the group for a speaker on this topic, as several members are dealing with school refusal in their homes.

About Gayle:  Gayle is Aspergers Victoria's Programs Manager. She has had over 40 years' experience in a wide spectrum of disability services with the Victorian government, non-for-profit agencies and her own private consultancy and counselling business. Gayle has worked in all areas of disability including accommodation, employment and education services as well as worked with all types of disability including, physical, sensory, intellectual, psychiatric and acquired brain injury.

Gayle is committed to creating a more inclusive and respectful world for all people particularly those who are neuro-diverse. She wants to encourage the empowerment of Aspies whom she hopes will one day be ‘out and proud’, understood by all and the envy of all non-Aspies!

Cost:  $5 AV Members, or $10 for Non-Members. Please pay on registration as payment on the night puts unnecessary stress and overhead on our volunteers.

Getting There:  Enter via the side door on WILLIS LANE. By car:  Please note that entry will be from the side door on WILLIS LANE. There is parking in the car park at the back of the community centre as well as in surrounding streets.  By Public Transport:  Hampton Station is very close and there is also a bus service.
