Saturday Train Trip, Creek Walk & Pub Lunch

A nice day out for Aspies between age 25 and 45 who like train trips, but who also want to experience an outdoor creek walk and enjoy an optional pub meal afterwards.

This Group is for Aspergers Victoria members and plans to meet up monthly across the year for fun social activities. If you are not a member, you can come for one event as a non-member, after that we ask you to join us here  as a member to support Aspergers Victoria and to enjoy member group/event prices (for events with an up front cost) and other membership benefits as part of our community.

Where & When: Meet Lucas (see contacts below) and other participants at clock tower, Southern Cross Railway Station, Collins/Spencer St corner, at 10:40 am for a meet and greet. This will  and to allow plenty of time to board the train that will leave Southern Cross at 11:10 am (arrival at Lara Station at 11:55am). From there, we will walk around the Hovells Creek Walking trail for approximately one hour and will then finish up at The Lara Hotel, where we will enjoy for a pub lunch (optional).  It is also fine if you prefer not to go to lunch and head home on the train straight after the walk.

Return Trip: Trains run back to Southern Cross from Lara every 40 minutes. People can head home as early as they like, but it's likely many of us will catch a train home together shortly after 3pm.  We would expect to return to Southern Cross by approx. 3.45pm.

Costs:  Your train fare plus food/drink costs at the Lara Hotel. Refer to the Bar Menu and the Bistro Menu to check costs and purchase your meals/drinks at the counter (if staying for lunch). You can travel to Lara on a Zone 1 metro ticket, with no need for a VLine ticket.

What to Bring: As there are drinking fountains on the train and near Lara station, you can just bring yourself if you are happy to wait until the pub lunch after the walk, but you may wish to bring a backpack with a bottle of water and snacks to eat before hand. Hopefully it won't be a rainy day, but if it is wear a rain jacket or bring an umbrella, I will check the forecast and update those attending as the date gets closer.

Contacts: For any questions regarding this event or on the day, feel free to contact group member/organizer, Lucas on 0401 759 160.  For other Aspergers Vic membership or registration queries, please contact Emma at admin@aspergersvic.org.au.
