Social Communication For Life Program 

Module 1: Basic Communication Strategies for Young Adults 18-35yrs


Due to popular demand we are starting a second Social Communication for Life Program. This highly successful program will develop a toolkit of communication skills that will assist the young adult to make and keep friends, socialise, feel confident and even develop romantic relationships.  Module 1 will run over 6 weeks on Monday evenings between 6.15pm and 8.15pm at the Link Health's Batesford Hub (not far from Power Neighbourhood House).

Social coaches will support participants in using the communication strategies developed in the program and will provide a resource during the weekly sessions. For full program information refer to the Social Communication for Life Brochure.docx.

Module 1:   Basic Communication Strategies covers:

  • Understanding social anxiety and how to manage it.
  • Identifying thinking styles and emotions in yourself and others
  • Conversation survival skills: Starting and maintaining conversations, entrance and exit strategies, reading verbal and non-verbal language

Cost:  $50 per session for AV Member ($300 per module); $70 per session for Non- Members ($420 per module).  If you are not a member and would like to be, you can join Aspergers Victoria at our secure online platform; https://aspergersvic.org.au/join-us

Getting There: Batesford Hub is on Batesford Rd, near Holmesglen TAFE. There is free parking available on site.  If taking public transport, the nearest train station is Holmesglen station on the Glen Waverley line, or pick up the 903 Mordialloc bus and get off at the TAFE/Warrigal Rd stop, then it's a 2 minute walk from there.
