Social Skills Workshop 1:

Having positive social encounters

Aspergers Victoria are partnering with Paul Micallef from Autism Explained and Aspergers from the Inside to develop and deliver social skills workshops covering a range of common topics which promote positive autistic identity. The workshops are focused on building self-confidence and strengthening your own unique identity which gives you a strong foundation to set healthy boundaries and interact positively with the world (regardless of how friendly it may be!).

If you are aged between 14 and 24 years, then these workshops could be just what you're looking for. The best part is that they are free for AV members!

  • Workshop 1 will focus on having positive social encounters.
  • Workshop 2 will focus on navigating difficult social situations.

There are few conditions

  • Places are strictly limited to 12 participants
  • Participants need to agree to be filmed during the workshops.
The filming will be used to develop capacity-building videos and resources to help other autistic young adults to find an authentic version of their true selves and succeed socially at the same time. These will be available for free on the soon to be launched autism information hub "The A List"

If this sounds like something you might be interested in, make sure you register today!

The workshops are running as two separate events.

You are welcome to join just Workshop 1, just Workshop 2, or both if you wish!
Registrations for Workshop 1: click "Register" on the left and follow the prompts.

Registrations for Workshop 2: via our separate registration page

What can I expect when I attend an AV COVIDSafe event?
AV is closely following DHHS COVID-19 requirements and our in-person events have changed to comply with these. We encourage you to read our AV COVIDSafe Plan [LINK TO COVIDSAFE POLICY] before you attend in-person events at AV in 2021. This includes important information about our QR code check-in system and what you need to bring with you to an event. As the venue capacity is limited, please register if you would like to attend to ensure you don't miss out.

We will be providing a sausage sizzle to participants, however participants are welcome to bring their own water bottle and snacks. Please be aware that due to DHHS COVIDSafe guidelines, these are not to be shared.

Please note that DHHS advice may change and we will do our best to communicate any changes in AV COVID-19 policy to our community.

If you have questions about the event, our COVIDSafe policy, or need assistance with registration, please email Jenni: admin@aspergersvic.org.au
